It’s very surprising to read that the KTC is requesting the government to increase the current subsidy from Rs 30 crore to Rs 60 crore in order to meet their basic requirements. My question is if the KTC is running in losses since 1981 what are the measures taken by the government in all these years to improve the service or to minimize the losses on daily basis.
Public transportation is a very important factor for every country in the world if the public transportation is reliable and affordable than people will avoid their private vehicles and this will reduce vehicles on the road by at least 20%. KTC should have a yearly time table of all the scheduled buses with departure time on all the routes and this should be strictly followed by the KTC throughout the year and the time table should be circulated in all the offices, tourism related businesses, educational institutions so that the commuters are aware of the guarantee bus services. The old buses which are outdated and which are high maintenance should be scrapped
Every driver and conductor must a given the same bus regardless the route to hold them accountable in case of any damage to the bus.

but to provide service to the citizens at a affordable price and KTC should introspect why the private buses are always packed and never run in losses and for this there is no need of junket tours to foreign countries to improve the transport system by the government.
