The India- Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement was finally passed by the Lok Sabha on 7 May, while the Rajya Sabha passed it unanimously the earlier day. External Affairs’ Minister Sushma Swaraj gave a stateswoman like speech in the Parliament in which she lauded the efforts of her predecessors and prior governments in giving life to the LBA.
The speeches of S. S. Ahluwaliya, Prof. Sugata Bose, Mohd. Salim, and others gave a very good message to the world and Bangladesh about India’s willingness to have friendly relations with its neighbours. The LBA will help remedy the vices of the Radcliffe Award.
