While we seem too busy discussing the approach of the Archdiocesan Board of Education (ABE) in seeking redress of its grievances, it is more important that we do not skirt the issues at hand.
The perception is definitely being created that Parsekar’s government is doing injustice to ABE, whose schools otherwise play yeoman service in imparting education to Catholic as well as non-Catholic students without discrimination. And the complaint is not only regarding the opening of new schools in remote areas, but also concerns blatant favoritism in providing grants to selected schools as well as other matters like these tainted with a communal colour.
Lame excuses by Parsekar won’t do. Moreover in touchy issues like these, Caesar’s wife must be above suspicion and the BJP, for its own sake, must not even be suspected of wrongdoing, if it is to maintain the good-will of every right thinking citizen.
Further, to say that above matters are just non-micro issues is wrong. Who knows, this may be just the tip of the iceberg!
