Pandemic and stray animals

The ongoing pandemic has bought hard times not only to humans but also animals. It was noticed that a lot of animals are just abandoned specially puppies and kittens in and around Goa. As a result to this continuing pandemic many pet owners have abandoned their pets due to various reasons. These tiny creatures are usually left abandoned at isolated areas where there is hardly any movement of people, so they are not noticed by anybody which causes their  death out of starvation or become prey to some wild animal. This in fact is  really a disheartening gesture of human towards animals.

An appeal to all Goans, I know these times are hard for us and so is it for the animals. Let’s not be stone hearted and abandon animals during these days of hardship. If we have stray animals noticed in close vicinity to our residence lets feed them. A lot of good samaritans are observed showing concern towards other living creatures on earth, please continue your good service and let us also do our little bit to help stray animals survive during these hard times.

Goans losing lives due to shortage of oxygen

A man named Hemant Kambli from Sirsaim records a heart-breaking video on social media showing the pathetic situation of ward no 147 Goa Medical College where patients are dying of shortage of oxygen after 12am, the oxygen pipeline doesn’t supply oxygen and due that many innocent lives are lost the government in press conference says that there is enough oxygen but why the lives are lost due to shortage of oxygen and who is responsible and accountable for the tragedy?

Due to the deaths the elected representatives are playing blame games and putting the blame on one another and the transport minister Mauvin Godhino says that the government is prepared for the third Covid-19 wave when the government cannot handle properly the second Covid-19 wave. How the Goans will believe the government who is giving false promises.

No one should blame the doctors and the nurses as they are doing a fine job and also overburdened they are helpless if there is lack of oxygen. It is high time that the government mends its ways and bring its act together and solve the oxygen related issues ones for all and save the Goans lives which matters the most.

It is also a request to the government not to divert oxygen to Sindudurg in Maharashtra when Goan patients need the most. The government should keep in mind charity begins at home They should also remember that you can fool all the people some time and some people all the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Precarious situation in Goa

Who is responsible for the prevailing  precarious situation in Goa now due to the Covid-19?  I fully hold the Government of BJP and Dr Sawant as the head of the Goa Government and of course Viswajit Rane as the  Health Minister as responsible.

People are dying for lack of oxygen cylinders which are reaching the GMC Hospital premises in time but not to the patients.  Is it sensible to give such excuses?   One thing I noticed that both Sawant and Rane are not serious and do not seem to be responsible,  they are handling  their jobs very  callously. During the last whole year instead of preparing for the onslaught of the second wave they did nothing because they and their Government is running by the immature Cabinet.  Is it a joke that every day on an average 50 Goans are dying and still there is no seriousness from our Government?

Where are our MLAs and other Ministers gone?  At the time of the election they are coming to our places to enquire of our needs and forced in our hands  bundle of notes but now they are all hiding  somewhere.  If they are unable to stand by the people then they have no right to hold their positions and porfolios.  In fact by acting like novices, they made a mockery of their jobs.

The lethargic attitude of our government and its irresponsibly handling of the current situation definitely force me to hold the BJP Government of Goa fully responsible for the innumerable deaths of Goans.

Government and public negligence

With India swamped by a massive wave of Covid-19 infections and deaths, the main cause of this tragic situation is the complacency of the government and the lack of a conscientious public.

The country has exported millions of Covid vaccines to most of the countries when it had a vaccine shortage. India is currently witnessing a harrowing second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the country’s health care system to its knees and threatening the lives of innumerable people. Instead of debunking myths and establishing stronger protocols, the government has acted like the pandemic was over and eased restrictions.

The government’s lack of planning for the second wave along with their inaction during super spreader events like election rallies and religious gatherings have put the Indian people in a compromising position. The constant negligence has resulted in the chilling situation that currently plagues the country, and its previous complacency continues in the form of misplaced priorities and inefficiency. People working from home are mentally fatigued which is a bigger cost to pay.

India’s healthcare infrastructure has crumbled under the weight of thousands of cases. The tragedy is that the central government, which has centralised all powers under the Disaster Management Act, refused to prepare itself or the states for this second wave, believing that the pandemic is over.

The BJP government believes in centralising all political power in its hands and letting the “free market” led by big monopoly houses solve the problems of the country. And if such a policy fails, blame the state governments, the anti-national forces and finally, the Opposition.

Hide and seek games of vaccines

Vaccine situation in India is like looking for a bride for marriage. First we were not ready, then we didn’t like any, then we didn’t get any at the time of Covid-19.  Those who got are unhappy thinking maybe the other one would have been better, then those who did not get, want to marry anyone from anywhere. The game of musical chairs has begun. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent disease and save lives – now more than ever. Today there are vaccines available to protect against at least 20 diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza and measles. Together, these vaccines save the lives of up to 3 million people every year. When we get vaccinated, we aren’t just protecting ourselves, but also those around us.

Some people, like those who are seriously ill, are advised not to get certain vaccines – so they depend on the rest of us to get vaccinated and help reduce the spread of disease. During the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccination continues to be critically important. And as usual, the noise that the Government is inefficient, incompetent, can’t plan etc. has started.

We have embarked on a massive drive led by a data driven process. Hide and seek game of vaccines continues in our country.
