O Heraldo is the genuine Voice of Goa

Hurray! That was a great piece of admiration for an esteemed newspaper, O Heraldo, by an eminent Ad guru, Adi Pocha, who has made Goa as his second home. Infact, it’s the truth that the esteemed newspaper does portray the ground reality of Goa, thus creating emphasis on the concerned department and authorities to implement prompt action, as it was the case of accidents/cleaning drives/thefts/forest issues/land grabbing and many more, just to mention a few.

However, the maggot filled rice (ration rice) issue, that created ripples in the state, and which was exclusively highlighted by

O Heraldo, made the concerned authorities/department to implement prompt action, thus solving the said issue, much to the satisfaction of the general public. In addition, it’s really of great help to us, who are miles away and

O Heraldo do keep us updated of what’s happening in Goa. No doubt about it, that O Heraldo is genuinely the ‘Voice of Goa’. Kudos! O Heraldo. Do keep up the good work!

Naming landing point Shiv Sakthi inappropriate

Naming the Chandrayaan 3 landing point on the south pole of the Moon by Narendra Modi as Shiv Sakthi is completely inappropriate. The mission was a marvellous technological achievement by ISRO and in line with that, the touch down area, should have been named from a technological context or after our pioneering space scientists like Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhawan or the like. Naming it Shiv Sakthi has no context and the PM has no right to usurp the naming of the area since it should have been left to the operating agency like ISRO in this context.

A village is no place for EDM festivals

It is learnt that Mopa residents have objected to the Sunburn festival proposed to be held in their village. The villagers do not want the music festival to come into the villages and disturb the peace. They have alleged that it is not a festival but a party, where illegal activities including consumption of drugs, alcohol, etc take place. The villagers have appealed to the government authorities not to give the necessary permission to organize the festival at Mopa. It must be said, a peaceful village is no place to organize such EDM festivals which can have a negative impact on the youth of the village and will not benefit the villagers in any way. If at all they can have such international music programmes close to the beach along the coastal belt.

It is pertinent to note that the promoter of Sunburn has reportedly commenced selling early-bird tickets online for the four-day event without officially announcing the venue. This has probably prompted the Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte to comment that music festivals should play music but the government will not allow musical events to make the Goa government dance to their tune. It would be prudent to permanently allot government land to be rented out for organizing such massive festivals which should be away from the villages. It would also bring revenue for the government.

No parking facility for Saptah

After COVID-19, this year people waited eagerly to celebrate Vasco Saptah. The Vasco Saptah committee along with municipality should have come with a road map for parking slots. The giant wheel for children was erected opposite Tanya hotel, near railway bridge which was usually used for parking four wheelers. Hence there was a massive traffic jam  on Sunday from morning till late night from Varunapuri to St Andrew’s Church square.
