It is reported that the Postal Department is incurring a loss of Rs 7 on a postcard and Rs 5 on an inland letter. While many may question the usage of these means of communication now, it is to be realised that even today, many rely on postcards and inland letters to send messages. In India, you lose your mobile network in some places thus impairing you from using the modern means of communication. But a postbox can be found even in a remote village. To curb this huge deficit, the Postal Department could increase the prices of its services. Also, promoting the Meghdoot cards more could be an option since Meghdoot cards are also used for advertisement thus earning revenue for the department.
