Wednesday morning is a historic day for Goans as our son of the soil was declared Saint at a ceremony in Lanka. Goans who were anxiously waiting for this joyous day, attended mass in our respective churches and chapels to give thanks and praise to Almighty God for the gift of sainthood.
Later church bells pealed amid the bursting of fire crackers in villages to proclaim this good news. Most of us must have watched it live on EWTN channel, a ceremony of over two and half hours. It was a welcome sign from the government of Goa to grant this day as a restricted holiday in order that the faithful could take part in the church services and also watch the ceremony live on TV. A postal stamp to mark this occasion is indeed a proud moment.
