Should celebrities share the blame?
The incident of popular food item” Maggi Noodles” being found to contain higher amounts of MSG (monosodium glutamate) and lead than permitted in some states of India, has given a big jolt to the manufacturer Nestle India and also the celebrities who are engaged by the firm to advertise them.
There is no doubt that the manufacturer cannot be absolved of the blame, so also FDA who is supposed to monitor contents that are well within the safe limits.
Now the point is whether the celebrities whose services are used to advertise such food products, too should share some of the blame. It is a fact those who are engaged to advertise these products are paid handsomely, so they benefit monetarily. Children and the youth very often follow them blindly and consume these products without giving any serious thought.
Maggi noodles being food item the safety of lives is compromised and cannot be compared to other non-food products.  Certainly this incident is an eye-opener to all concerned.
