It was the tireless effort of the Leader of the Opposition Dr Jack De Sequeira, fondly called the Father of the Opinion Poll, who fought tooth and nail to protect Goa’s unique identity in January, 1967.
Now that the Assembly session is in progress, it is our request to all MLAs especially of the North, led by Micheal Lobo and others to pressurise the Government to see that Dr Jack de Sequeira’s statue is also erected side by side along with Bandodkar. Soon we will be celebrating his 25th death anniversary on October 17. This would be a fitting tribute to this lost and forgotten son. Alternatively, I suggest that the Dabolim airport be named after him as Dr Jack De Sequeira International Airport.
