The hate campaign rhetoric of RSS is crossing the limit with forced conversion of Muslim families of Agra and its plan to convert 5000 Muslims and Christians in the coming months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much hyped campaign Swachh Bharat cannot succeed unless Swachh Soch is inculcated among its ministers and the RSS, the parent organisation to which he belongs.
It’s just 6 months and we are seeing a surge of statements from RSS & BJP leaders trying to create unrest in the society. Every week one statement is issued and the media is busy in reporting, discussing, debating the topic. As soon as one statement is finished, another statement is hurled to break the peace and decorum of the society. The prime minister should focus more on Swach Soch among its ministers and RSS leadership to fulfil his mission of Swach Bharat. When there is mutual respect among fellow citizens, there shall be a positive and a united struggle towards development wherein every individual will willingly contribute towards nation’s development.

Our Education Minister Smriti Irani has hit the bulls eye once again by making headlines by first issuing a circular to keep children in school on Christmas day and then making a U-turn by saying that the essays on Good Governance can be submitted online.
The communal agenda of the present govt. is very much visible and if this is the development model which Modi wants to implement in the country then we can look forward to more “aachaa din” in the days to come.

Colva Circuit Project
I understand that the Colva Circuit Project is given the go ahead by the Benaulim MLA and Colva Panchayat. My question to the Sarpanch is should not this be put forward to the Colva villagers at the Gram Sabha first before going ahead? Also why is Gram Sabha not being held at Colva for quite sometime to discuss this and other pressing issues?

Container along NH17
There is a yellow coloured huge freight container lying on the side of the NH17 just opposite the Sanjay School on the other side of the highway at Porvorim. For the last one year or more it continues to lie there. Though it is not seriously obstructing traffic considering that at the location there is a small outward curve of the highway, is it not the responsibility of the owners to take the container away. Failing which should the police or PWD Highway authorities not enforce the removal of the container from the owners or get rid it at the owner’s cost..

Oil spill in Sunderbans
The news about an oil spill in the Sunderbans is a matter of great worry. As a part of the Ganga-Brahmaputra delta, the Sunderbans are a vital aspect of India’s biodiversity. The UNSECO World Heritage Site status has been accorded to Sunderbans, and hence, it is a serious concern to all, especially Bangladesh and India. India ought to assist Bangladesh government to make good the damage done and control further loss.

Cold storage
The normal procedure used by the fish vendors in the fish-market to preserve the fish is to use crushed ice. The ice-water from these baskets then leak onto the market floor and makes it unhygienic while also causing slippery floor conditions for the public. As a result of this ice water the entire fish-market also begins to stink. The Calangute village panchayat has come with a novel idea and have reportedly donated two cold-storage containers to the Calangute fish market. It is understood the cold storage containers can keep the fish fresh for four days. This will maintain the market clean. The local bodies in cities and villages need to follow the example of the Calangute village panchayat.
