The increasing number of vehicles on the roads is one of the prime reasons for the increase in road accidents. The need of the hour is traffic discipline and road signs, which can reduce the number of accidents considerably. School children are at greater risk since many schools are situated close to main roads. When school closes for the day, they rush out of the premises to reach home early. Speed breakers and zebra crossings should be mandatory on all roads near schools in the state, especially primary schools. These safety precautions are absent on most of those roads. The Government Primary School, Vasco is located along the busy Swatantra Path. Since the road doesn’t have a speed-breaker or a zebra crossing, school children are at great risk of meeting with an accident there.
