While Wanchoo was not seen engaging in any confrontation with the Parrikar-led State government, he however always was ready to interact with all sections of the society.
He attended many events, and travelled freely across the State, without making much hype about ‘protocol’. Few days ago, however, BJP’s Goa State President has accused Mr. Wanchoo of acting like an ‘agent of the Gandhi family’, while demanding his resignation. However, it remained unclear on what basis such an accusation was made.
Now that Mr. Wanchoo has quit, the onus lies upon the Union Government to ensure that the old guard of the BJP or some party loyalist whose political career has ended; is not appointed as Goa’s Governor. History will remember B.V. Wanchoo’s stint as Governor, as a people-friendly and interactive first citizen of State.
