What’s the big fuss about the helmet rule?

It is appalling and rather shocking to see people complain about the recently enforced helmet rule. Nobody is denying the terrible roads, rash driving, absence of streetlights and stray cattle menace but if people were sensible enough to wear helmets on their own, the government would not need to enforce it.
You may still die despite wearing a helmet, but at least your slim odds of surviving a head injury increase everytime you put on a helmet. Various absurd complains have been made ranging from inconvenience at weddings to neck & back problems.. but I would like to ask don’t we all roam about with umbrellas and raincoats during the rains…isn’t that inconvenient during weddings..! Also it’s not like we travel for 3-4 hrs/day to end up with spondylitis and back issues and if you ask me, I would choose neck and back problems over paralysis and death anyday! Are not the 800 odd deaths/year motivation enough to better ourselves and others.
