It will be yet another day of useless speeches by our own useless politicians as our Mai Goa celebrates 59 years of liberation from the hands of Portugal on December 19, 2020. Thanks to Portugal for leaving an option open for Goans born prior liberation and their families to seek Portugal nationality because of which a decent number of Goans are making a decent earning all around Europe.
The prime responsibility of any elected government is the safety and security of its own people and their precious land but sadly every elected government after liberation sold Goa’s pristine land to the highest bidder and now full swing efforts are been made by our politicians in power even to permit the South Western railways to kill the aged old homes of their own people to make way for double tracking.

Our own elected governments run by heartless politicians even issued NOCs to cut down thousands of grown up trees, destroy our forest areas as per their convenience in the name of development which in reality is total destruction. Is it all about human convenience? Doesn’t the other poor helpless species living in the forest have any rights over the liberation of Goa? Were we liberated to ruin the beautiful Goa once known as Rome of the East?
I just can’t forget the rape on Goa’s six-year-old daughter and that too within the school premises in a broad daylight few years ago with no justice to the little daughter been done till date. Remember another daughter of Goa been raped on the Betalbatim beach couple of years ago and another one murdered at Benaulim? Any update on the status of these cases? It’s not just about the failure of the system but these cowardly acts and the total incompetency of our concerned authorities has miserably failed every Goan parent of a daughter. Are our daughters secured and safe in our liberated Goa?
Our beautiful beaches sold to Samadhis, rivers blindly signed for corporate, Karnataka robbing our water from Madhei during broad daylight. In recent times Goa was shocked to hear the people are been even burnt alive, someone from some part of the country comes and names one of our beaches as so called ‘Sunburn beach’, false complaints are filed against those who are protesting to save the little beautiful remains of Goa and our own elected government plans to spend crores of rupees to celebrate this liberation when the real Goem and Goemkarponn been sold for things like kolso. World heritage site, Bom Jesus Basilica where the 400 plus years body of Goemcho Saib housed is just neglected. A daring son of Goa just disappeared while fighting for his mother Goa few years back.
The first revolution against the Portugal was started from my village of Cuncolim but sad to say that daring Cuncollkars disappeared long ago. The ground water of our village got polluted due to the dumping of the industrial waste in the nearby fields. Even bore wells are been dug only to dump this waste.
The worst is yet to come and if all we don’t change our attitude towards nature instantly in spite of being warned then God save our souls.
