A Googly by Politicians

The long wait for the results between election day and the day of the counting is over. People waited patiently with abated breath and confused expectations – not really knowing  what would be the out come. When the results were declared on March 11 over the whole day – while  a lesser literate state like UP with over 400 seats took much lesser time than Goa with 40 seats to declare the results, there was a feeling that the  political bosses after all cannot “Fool all the people all the time”.
The Congress had won 17 seats against the 14 of the BJP indicating that the people of Goa were not happy with the performance of the BJP. The NCP and the GF were assumed to be the supporters of the Congress and there was no doubt in the people’s mind that GF would ever back-stab the Goans. If  Julius Ceasar were alive today  he would have certainly repeated the words “Et Tu Vijai?”
Indeed Vijai and his partners should hang their heads in shame with what they have done to the  electorate.  They must remember that life is not all about power or riches alone; It is also about self-respect and keeping ones word of honour. Vijai was considered to be a silver lining in the last Assembly and people not only respected  him for his stance against the ruling coalition but also loved him for it. Today to the disappointment of all, he has proved to be a Goliath with clay feet. He has betrayed the Goans and is responsible for a “Breach of trust”. Indeed when politicians get elected on certain promises or on a certain manifesto which they do not maintain after getting elected, they should be made to resign on grounds of “Breach of trust”.
Further, it is a matter of disgrace to note that the BJP cannot function in Goa without the presence of their ‘idol’ Parrikar. It was a matter of pride for Goa that one of our sons held an important portfolio as the Defence Minister  of our country. If Francisco D’Souza could be Deputy CM for so many years why can he not be the CM now. D’Souza should put his foot down and stay where he is and not be treated as a spare part in the BJP set up.
The six other Christian MLAs in the BJP seem gutless to show their unity in the light of the developments. It would be their bounden duty to bat for Francisco or resign en mass and prove their value in the eyes of the people.  Or are they afraid of some hidden agenda?
