I am very proud to say that I am coming from a very scenic, historic village of Cuncolim. My 55-year-old little house is surrounded by beautiful fertile fields though all of them are not cultivated any longer. As a child I played in these fields, sailed my paper boats, jumped in them during rainy season and these beautiful memories will last in my mind till I live. Sadly one of the surrounding fertile fields being recently killed in the name of unplanned development and very shortly the axe will follow on the rest. We still survive on our well water but industrial pollution polluted our ground water and air, which are the basic requirements to live and our people in power speak about development. What kind of development we are talking about when our basic needs to live are been robbed?
Are PDAs, Regional plan 2021 all about killing of our hills, fields, forest areas, water bodies, rivers, springs, etc? You guys supported the killing of thousands of coconut trees to make way for a beer factory. Cultivated fields are been killed between Cortalim and Agassaim to make way for what not.
We all know where the political class of Goa stands and they have been proving their class since liberation. It’s not worth any longer to speak about that dirty class but did I stand anytime in my life as a true son for my Mai Goa or turned out to be a mere spectator? Did I lose my fighting spirit and turned out to be a political pimp and supported the destruction supported by the political class?
Goa is all about rannam, zaddam, peddam, xetam, dongor, nodhi, zori, mollam and someone just can’t classify these beautiful creations of the creator as settlement zones. If we love our Goa, intend to save what little is remaining to our future generations who are yet to see the light of Goa, then it’s high time to revolt against all those forces who are all out to destruct and destroy our once very beautiful Goa. Let us bring this revolution on the ground if not for us then at least for sake of our future generations and together we can do it and we will win.
Let us leave our religion, caste, etc aside and rise as true blooded Goenkars for our Mai Goa. Let us do it now and if we fail to rise now then yes, Goa will definitely remain but Goenkar and Goenkarponn will be lost for all in our own Goa.
