Nil or very few speed breakers on the road, hardly any police personnel regulating traffic and still no traffic chaos or signal violation! To be honest I am taken by surprise by the attitude of people of this tiny country (city state) surrounded by the South China Sea.
Yes, the beauty of positive attitude of Hong Kongers is to be experienced to believe and I did experience that from my first visit in 2012. Hong Kong is mostly safe to visit, and for sure foreign visitors will have a great time. Petty crime is prevalent, but violent crime, especially against foreigners, is rare. With 7.5 million residents of various nationalities in a 1,104-square-kilometre territory, Hong Kong, which is one of the most densely populated places, is also a major global financial centre and one of the most developed cities in the world. A highly dynamic city that serves as the perfect platform into Mainland China and Asia, Hong Kong is the ideal place for business in Asia. It is a business-friendly city with a multitude of advantages to ensure businesses flourish.
As per my estimate, hard working Hong Kongers start their day much earlier and typically put in an hour or two additional hours of work than their peers in other parts of the planet. Great about Hong Kong is its people and their lovely attitude in their personal and as well social life. An average Hong Konger aspires to grow and flourish on his/her merit and hard work rather than through influencing, bribing, stealing or cheating. People from all walks of life, say from garbage cleaning staff to corporate chief-all of them seem to be working hard for growth. Government is highly people and business friendly in their governance, framing and implementing rules from time to time as per the need of fast changing global scenario. No wonder, such thoughtful planning and execution of various activities accelerate growth. Governmental procedures and time frame for various governmental functions are transparent and strictly followed.
Infrastructure is world class with super great roads, flyovers, public transport facilities and efficient water supply and sewage disposal. Every nook and corner of Hong Kong is well connected with “Hon Kong Metro” rail, air-conditioned double decker buses and mini buses for remote areas. All over the banks of multiple islands of Hong Kong, govt established beautiful promenades for several kilometres as walking track along with cycling tracks. These facilities are interconnected with well maintained parks, indoor and outdoor playgrounds to practice games and exercises. This way people are encouraged to take care of their personal health. There are top class government hospitals serving the public at nil or little cost. Coming to education facilities there are both government and private schools offering a global standard of teaching and coaching.
While the government does everything to people’s well-being, they ensure no overdoing of their actions, but meet just sufficient standards so as to avoid over exploiting any resources and thereby doing their bit to reduce global warming. For example, the street lighting of Hong Kong is just adequate with not so flashy lights wasting precious energy which are very common in few other arrogant rich countries without any concern for fellow citizens of our planet.
Hong Kong is for clean, safe, healthy, happy, progressive and responsible life.
