inspite of several decisions on MOI favouring Konkani and Marathi language students and schools. Their main aim was appeasement of BBSM and RSS and its vociferous supporters, to give fresh shot in the arms to the protagonists of Marathi language and thereby strengthen its vote bank.
Also another important reason was to create division among the managements of privately run English medium primary schools to ponder about adopting or changing to Konkani/Marathi language from next academic year. However, it appears that BBSM and RSS are hell bent in forcing the government to stop grants to English medium primary schools, which caught off guard those MLAs, and Ministers who were on the side of FORCE and parents who were demanding the option of choosing the medium of their choice including English
Now the question before the people of Goa is whether MoI is the only issue seriously affecting them? Has the government’s decision to continue giving grants to English medium schools in anyway responsible for other unsolved pressing issues like corruption, unemployment, price rises, deteriorating health services, traffic congestion, parking woes, garbage disposal, shifting of offshore Casinos, erratic water and power supplies inspite of massive increase in tariffs etc?
To castigate BJP government on MoI alone and ignore everything else that plagues Goa, seems irrational and suspicious. After all it’s the Goan tax-payers money that is being spent on these grants and to stop it will tantamount openly to injustice to children of Goa. So it’s amply clear that this insensitive and incompetent government is in league with RSS and BBSM, who in turn jointly decide to concentrate their attack only on single issue MoI and conveniently ignore all other important issues affecting Goans and salvage the BJP government, so that it can come to power once again.
So Goans beware of this petty politics which is nothing but a ploy to fool the people.
