The Karnataka assembly election results have attracted attention as this being the only South Indian State which was ruled by the BJP. It faced its political Waterloo and Karnataka has shown two long term political trends for the last
35 years that it has never elected the same party consecutively in the assembly elections in the State. This had happened recently in Himachal Pradesh too where no government had been repeated for the last 37 years and it shows presence of strong democracy in the country.
In Himachal Pradesh also, the BJP had done intensive electioneering but what the pattern was ongoing for the last 37 years it remained intact.
There is need of introspection by the BJP
the party should not take it for granted that freebies will be converted into votes as had Modi claimed in his speech in Rajya Sabha.
Moreover just two days ago, the Supreme Court decisions in two cases show the arrogance of BJP. The Supreme Court delivered the judgment in case of Shiv Sena case that if Uddhav Thackeray had not submitted one line resignation then his government may had been revived which shows what happened at that time was totally wrong. In the same way, the Delhi government had been allotted more powers and this decision was also against the BJP government at the Centre.
Again the Supreme Court had asked the SEBI to submit the report in Adani episode earlier so that the common man may know the reality before parliament elections of 2024.
Karnataka elections are a big lesson for all political parties who want to win the poll battle to exploit the sentiments of voters in the name of caste, creed and religion.
The BJP was expecting that by converting Bajrang Dal into Bajrang Bali Hanuman party can garner more votes but the matured voters rejected this idea. This should serve as a big lesson for all political parties to refrain from exploiting the sentiments of the common man.
Big road shows do not carry too much weight and that had been reflected in the results of Karnataka assembly elections and BJP should refrain from such demonstrations in 2024 as there is need to solve the burning issues of the common man.
Just two days ago, the Supreme Court had advised the government to help the common man and needy persons and not involve in unnecessarily and unwanted litigation.
Being a disability activist, I can say with full responsibility that government departments are getting insensitive to the problems of the common man and grievances placed before them are never ever addressed.
For Opposition parties, the Karnataka results are a big lesson and they should be united to make democracy strong and contest the parliamentary elections unitedly and field a common candidate against the BJP otherwise it will be a repeat show.
Congress has won the assembly elections in Karnataka as per the trend going on in the state for the last 35 years and it should not be construed that same will be applicable in parliamentary elections also. In this regard, we know how the Congress Party had won the assembly elections in Rajasthan, MP and Chattisgarh but in the parliamentary elections which were held just after a few months, the BJP made a clean sweep.
The same happened in Punjab where the Congress lost the Jalandhar parliamentary seat to AAP after 24 years.
