MARGAO: Goa police were saved of a major embarrassment when two escort police constables managed to nab an accused after he made an abortive bid to escape from police custody here on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred this evening when a police party was escorting accused Bronson Fernandes from the lower court at old market to the district court building after he was brought from the Sada sub-jail. The accused gave the escort party a slip when they reached near the old market circle. The accused is believed to have pushed the two constables Sagar Gauns Desai and Mahendra Velip and rushed towards the KTC bus stand. The two police constables, however, gave the accused a hot chase and in a Bollywood filmy style nabbed him in the paddy fields behind the KTC bus stand. The accused was later brought to the Margao police station, where an offense was registered against him.
