Caste system

Vailanka D’Cruz
The caste system was introduced for the upliftment of social and economic status and backward classes but now the scenario has changed. Earlier, people of low caste faced problems to get jobs and compete in the competitive examination forcing them to fall behind due to lack of exposure to the real world. But people in today’s world take undue advantage of this reservation, which is detrimental for the society.
People of reserved caste apply for jobs and education where they get through easily but many students and people who deserve lose these opportunities because they fail to maintain basic expected grade make it up due to reservation. This system also plays a key role in reservation of seats in panchayat election. Most people belonging to reserved category, lack in communication, language, mutual understanding where these are considered to be basic necessity for employment and also to survive in today’s world.
The cut off percentage for most examination is not fair enough. The general category person who has achieved success in examination with bright marks than the reserved category, that person doesn’t get a seat whereas the reserved category gets easily. It’s a downfall for the general category. This caste system leads to hindrance to economic development to the country, where people cannot do what they wish too. This may lead that person to depression, finding him/herself worthless in today’s world. One can never know what that person is going through even though the question arises “why can’t everyone be treated on equality?”
We say that our country is democratic, is it true? Democratic includes treating everyone equal.
Everything is going to be fair in the country only after the removal of reservation of seats. If they do so one will know their standard and value in the society. It will be great achievement for the deserving people. There will be respect for education system and for job opportunities by all the individuals from the society. There will be no more reasons for hating the low caste people. We will proudly be able to say we are leaving in democratic country where all individuals are treated equally.
