Clouds of Covid-19. Live with it

Though man has conquered the moon, swam to the deepest of oceans, sent satellites into unimaginable distant orbits, yet, he can’t stand up fight with the continuous clouds of Corona virus which originated in Wuhan China in December, 2019. He can’t even sea-lock, hill-lock and confine Covid-19 within certain borders. The pandemic ignores boundaries.
We talk and harp about equality and say caste, class, religion has no place in a secular society. But that is all a world of hypocrisy in which we live. Corona Virus’ deadly march is neutral with no discrimination. It believes in co-equality of humanity; and not in superiority and inferiority. It attacks any one.
Some men’s mind is inclined to think that environment is forced to recover itself from the damage man has done to nature – concretising fields, cutting hills, destroying forests. Now, the natural world’s mending methods is through earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones, floods, droughts, epidemics; and Covid-19, appears to be one such balancing act by drooping down world’s inhabitants. Perhaps because population explosion would swell and without nature’s balancing act there would be shortages of necessities of life and failure in infrastructural facilities. There would be chaos and ultimate collapse of the world order. That is why Nature balances life.
Clouds of Corona virus are continuously floating everywhere. Since the origin of Covid-19, it has already affected over 2.4 crore people in India with over 2.6 lakh deaths. Also in Goa more than 1.3 lakh cases are reported till date with more than 1800 deaths. Bodies are ‘laid to rest’. People are not even allowed to attend their funeral for a compassionate act of a handful of mud: “ghalunk ek nodor moddeak anik Korunk iek doiall kornni meloleak divun ek mutt bor mati”.
Many have lost their parents, close relatives, blood relations and some are left as orphan children with tears rolling down their eyes. Priests, nuns, doctors, nurses have gone never to roam on this globe again. No job, no work, no money; heavy hours hanging on one’s hands. In such a situation, some are so depressed that they do not want to live in this world; they feel as if the world says ‘go and the grave says come’.
We all know that there has been a ceaseless rise in the number of Corona virus cases. Lockdowns are delaying money-making recovery. Lockdown is just creating hardships for the business world.
Therefore, we have to live with Covid-19. Its second wave is not yet over and its third wave is on the way. We have to observe the ‘standard operating procedure’. We have to wear the face masks which have now become part of our obligatory dress code; maintain social distancing at our workplace; and last but not the least that we can do is continuously test people to quarantine the infected; away from others, so they don’t unknowingly infect anyone in their vicinity.
That alone is the solution to live with Covid-19. Let us pray for the dead and condole with their relatives by sharing in their sorrow.“O most merciful Jesus, grant eternal rest to all who have died due to Covid-19; take the dead in your arms. Amen.”
