Don’t be complacent

Smuggling of gold through Dabolim airport continues unabated despite the numerous detection of the same! This could only mean either many consignments go undetected or the glib talking masterminds are adept at convincing the carriers otherwise. Goans, don’t fall prey! Goans need to be aware that most apparently well off people who have managed a social standing in public are basically unscrupulous for whom ‘bending’ of rules is perfectly legal and a way of life. Even so-called Chartered Accountants exploit loop holes knowing very well that the same is against the basic tenets of the law! So we see newbie ‘agriculturists’ minting money from agriculture while hardcore farmers’ green fingers turn suicide red!
As an example, advertising of liquor is banned in India: so ‘clever’ advertisers resort to advertising glasses/soda named after their liquor. And they see nothing wrong in this including multinational brands: shame on them! Neither do we. Shame on us. In this context, Goans, who tend to  see all people as honest till it’s too late, need to sit back and review what is happening and not ’join’ the National bandwagon.
Recently there was an acid attack in Goa: we need to book the person and weed such incidents in Goa. Why is there no news on the same? Rape and kidnapping has increased and we seem quite ‘normal’. Don’t get cowed down by people suppressing your voices: protest and demand answers from the cops and Ministers. This is alien to Goa.
A day back, a daily quoted police as saying they seized 723 grams of ganja from Nigerians in 2017 and that they are the major players. 723 divided by say 2.5gram is 289 ‘customers’ for one time! Can this be called ‘big’ players in Goa? How many people attend a rave party/ EDM festival? And is ganja the only drug available in Goa? It is one of the least deadly of all drugs. Who is fooling whom?
There are politicians today who are now ‘celebrating’ the Opinion Poll on a grand scale but not giving Goa Special Status. Goans need to go back to their key roots of honesty and shun these bad apples.
