End drugs and untreated sewage

The Government spends 95% of its time and resources attending to non-issues like their vote banks and paying back coalition partners with PDA gifts and just 5% or less on key issues. The top two priorities that require 70% of resources are drugs and untreated sewage polluting water bodies.
Social media…. it appears, only mirrors the Government and hence is majorly responsible for the sordid state of affairs in Goa blindly following the diversionary tactics of the Government.
The Government is still in denial mode as far as drugs are concerned. Voters must ask their MLA to fight drugs and make it their single point agenda till visible action is forthcoming. Housewives must lead on this front.
Water is the key to life and relying solely on the Government’s priorities is foolish.
Companies are bound by law to spend a fixed per cent of turnover towards CSR-Corporate Social Responsibility. All such companies need to focus 80% of CSR funds on sewage treatment plants only.
In Sancoale, the huge slums have come up on private/comunidade property earning the name — fokat nagar. They have no toilets. This entire slum was set up by the construction workers of the Zuari Agro factory.
Coastal regions are desperately trying to stop sewage into open and borewells. All wells must by now have been registered. However, soakpits from hotels, apartments, restaurants…all flout the 15 m distance from wells.
Borewells sunk by 5 star properties have fouled open wells with saline water. There has to be a constant monitoring of the same.
Goans need to boycott such Hotels/restaurants harming the environment. Social media can be a good watchdog: but it appears their general attitude is if it is serves my wants it is good. So long as the toilet is closed from public view it is OK. Where it lands is not their concern.
2018 must be the year to end drugs and untreated sewage. We must have the courage to shut down all such sources. The momentum must start from schools.
