Election is important for the citizens of any country because it is:
(1) A chance given to him/her to decide the governing authorities.
(2) A golden opportunity to exercise his/her constitutional right and participate in a democratic exercise.
It is for anybody’s knowledge that the personal credibility of those seeking public power by becoming elected representative of various assembly and parliament are on the verge of deteriorating election after election. It is the faulty decision of the individual voter, which in turn ruins the progress of the country.
Let us understand how we are voting. Most of the voters are blindfoldly voting due to their liking towards a particular political party and/or their past/present leaders. Another section of voters is those who vote for money. They seem to believe that it is morally unethical not to vote to that candidate from whom they receive money. The irony is they do not feel receiving money is unethical.
How to select and elect the people friendly, most suitable and good candidate in each constituency?
First step is to get all the names of the candidates with their party names and symbols. Make sure to include Independent candidates also with their symbols.
List down each of their manifestoes if the same is released. Otherwise leave it.
Step 2, Google search below listed traits for each of the candidate and list down info in a separate file: (1) Qualification, (2) Age, (3) Marital status with number of children, (4) Experience in Politics and as well prior to enter politics, (5) Good deeds during those years of experience, (6) Bad deeds during those years of experience (7) Any incidence of corruption (8) criminal cases undergone or pending, (9) history of candidates parents with regard to their education, career and economical status. (10) History of children with regard to their education, career and economical status.
Once the above info is ready for all the candidates, allocate marks for each of the above trait in a scale of 1-10. (1 being poor and 10 being excellent). If suppose two or more candidates get equal marks, further research those particular candidates and arrive at the particular candidate whom you can vote.
In this exercise you got to be impartial and should not allow your personal preference based on your gut feeling arising out of your liking to a particular party, religion, caste, gender or personal appearance, etc. interfere.
I feel this exercise is very essential in today’s scenario, where lot of criminals, poorly educated candidates with tainted track record are entering the fray with a sole aim of looting public money. Such candidates are entering the fray on the hope of easy win based on the goodwill of their party, leader, religion, caste or money.
Yet again an opportunity to make India progress the way we dream. Let us be responsible citizens and cast the vote to the right candidate and make the country progress in all fronts.
