With seven points from three matches FC Goa is leading the ISL 2018-19 table with a draw and two wins and a handsome goal difference. But what has been impressive was the attacking football that FC Goa has been dishing out which has made it a very exciting team to watch.
The Goan outfit has been playing fast-paced football with very accurate passing and Corominas appears to have taken off from where he left from the previous season of ISL. He could well be a strong contender for the ‘Golden Boot’ award for the second season running as he is leading the goal table with four goals. Without doubt FC Goa is the best team on display at the fifth edition of ISL.
This is also probably the best team to represent FC Goa as compared to the teams in the past four editions. The team gave a five-star performance in their match against Mumbai FC which they won with a convincing score of 5-0. But what caught the attention of the football lovers was the fast-paced game that was on display at the Fatorda Stadium on Wednesday. The ball passing was with pin-point accuracy. The team had much of the ball possession and the frequent change of positions of the players gave the players of the rival Mumbai FC team a hard time. To cap all this was the scoring prowess of players like Corominas and Edu Bedia. Even the super-sub Miguel Palanca came up with a brace.
It must be said that the FC Goa team has been uniting Goans like nothing else can, specially, at a time when the present happening in politics has been dividing the people in the state. The new FC Goa goalkeeper M. Nawaz appears to have gelled well with the team and is a good replacement for the jittery Kattimani who was all nerves in the FC Goa goal during the previous season. The coach Sergio Lobera has converted the team into a fighting unit. The players appear like a calm, cool, collected and composed team. However these are early days as far as the league is concerned but if the team keeps up the tempo and plays attacking football in the remaining part of the league, there could be nothing to stop them from lifting the title.
