Fish ban

Hats off to the Food and Drugs Administration for conducting the raid on wholesale fish market at Margao. Special mention should be made of its lady official Mrs Eva Fernandes who did her job courageously by taking her job seriously and not saluting the politicians. But her senior lady official, who was there in the FDA office, polluted her job and saluted the politicians to say later that formalin found in fish was permissible, later she said sorry to use the wrong word instead of safe. This shows how Govt officials are polluting their job by saluting politicians but Goans are not fools. You can fool some people sometimes but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
United States of America banned fish from China because they found traces of formalin in fish from China. Mizoram banned fish from Andhra Pradesh because they found formalin in the fish. Goans believe that the lady official Mrs Eva Fernandes who tested the fish herself and found the fish formalin positive and hence we request Goa government to ban fish from outside Goa not only for 15 days but permanently. Goans had enough of formalin.
When FDA found fish formalin positive in the wholesale market, the wholesaler Ibrahim did not agree to it and he wanted to do the same in the laboratory and now he says he’ll be getting a testing kit himself and anyone can test the fish before buying by using his kit. When FDA used the same kit to test the fish and found positive he did not agree now he expects Goans to agree the result of his kit.
Therefore the best solution is stop import of fish from outside Goa and if Goan fish is not sufficient from August onwards, ban export of fish from Goa to other State also so that Goans can eat formalin-free fish.
I congratulate Parrikar CM of Goa for banning fish import from other States but 15 days is a very less period and it is not a solution. From August 1, 2018 we’ll get our own fish. Why we need fish from other States? Hence it is advisable to ban outside fish to Goa completely.
Formalin in fish, Sodium cynide in fruits, insecticides in aerated drinks. All these are killing us Goans slowly. Hence Goa government is requested to ban all these chemical products in Goa if government is seriously interested in the health of Goans. Maybe some of our ministers are not in good health because of these chemicals, who knows? Isn’t prevention better than cure?
