At a time when the world is facing deadly Coronavirus and thousands of people are dying every day due to this pandemic, a beautiful song called ‘Heal the world’ came to my mind. The lyrics are so meaningful that they have a deep message to re-create the world, a better place for you and me and for everyone.
It emphasises on love, but do we love one another? The words of Jesus – love one another as I have loved you – ring into my ears. People, instead of love, are promoting hatred. Greed has entered our lives, humans appear to be in the rat race for survival. Everyone wants to earn money by hook or by crook; many want to remain happy and occupied in the hustle and bustle of life.
Once a speaker had asked a question to the audience: –*”Can anyone provide me with a family picture where parents and children are together reading books?”
* It is indeed difficult to get one, but it is very easy to get a picture where the whole family is busy with their own mobile phones! People have forgotten their priorities and family life and are busy confined to their own selfishness. Today, the families have got quality time to spend with one another due to Coronavirus. It is we, the people, who have created so much chaos on this beautiful planet, our Mother Earth. Greedy and heartless men and women have been dangerously exploiting and harming mother nature. So, hopefully the quarantine period will make us realise that it is time to repent, rather than regret later, that we cannot wound this earth any longer.
Every nation wants to become a nuclear super power, but today one virus has kept every nation into quarantine. We cannot become greater than nature. Nature will always be more powerful than human beings. It is our responsibility and duty to love and take care of nature and in return nature will protect us. We will heal the world only if we heal ourselves first. It is necessary for us to live in faith and harmony – harmony with nature and harmony with one another. To learn to live a simple and humane life with our loved ones, is the urgent need of the day. Work enough for a decent living and in joyful giving, you will obtain bliss.
One virus has locked down the whole world. We are brought to the stage of standstill. This situation has hopefully made us realise that we will stop existing, if we do not take urgent steps and measures to curb the virus. It is said that precaution is better than cure. Only our initiatives and right action can save us. Otherwise, the day is not far off where there is every possibility of the human race disappearing from this planet.
This epidemic of virus has given us an opportunity to come together, to fight together and to respect and honour mother nature. With God’s help, let us renew this wounded world. When God created the world, He found that it was good. He expects us to make it a better place to dwell in it. Let us, therefore, take a pledge today, to do our bit as it is said, it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
