Imaginary fears about IIT in Loliem

Your Editorial “An IIT in Loliem will never destroy, but only create” merits focusing serious attention and reflection by all those concerned.

You have brilliantly presented very sensible and clear arguments to counter and dispel unfounded fears in the minds of certain sections of Goans and convince them to reconsider their opposition to such a prestigious and respectable educational project that will elevate Goa onto a pedestal of excellence.
IIT is a temple of higher education.
Knowledge, human development and all round progress are derived when a state or a country has educational institutions of excellence. They administer courses and disciplines that offer its citizens, specially the aspiring young men and women opportunities to develop their talents and carriers by acquiring advanced qualifications and degrees. They are provided with all the necessary requirements for a successful acquisition of qualifications that guarantee their own future as well as progress of the nation. Every man and woman, who is highly qualified specially in their own state from a world renowned institution, is the pride of the community and undoubtedly an asset of highest order. Their knowledge, understanding and expertise will benefit immensely the nation at large. When people oppose such unique opportunities that rarely arise, on some flimsy grounds they commit very serious error of judgement. Certainly future generations will neither forgive nor forget the injustice done to them for depriving them of great learning opportunities.
Of course many Goans have deep apprehensions, whenever any major project is announced for execution. However, we must be able to make a clear distinction between what’s good and what’s evil. Setting up an ITT is certainly not an evil but an act of great significance and advantage to all Goans. They should welcome it with open hearts and positive minds.
Let’s look forward for a brighter future without getting bogged down with imaginary fears.
