IN JOURNEY OF LIFE, BE ECO-FRIENDLY

Our journey from this good earth to the next is a drama — a living story written by us with our free will on the sands of time.
Our voyage of life begins with birth: “Mewing and puking in the nurses’ arms,” and then it continues, “… the whining school-boy with his satchel and shining morning face, creeping like a snail, unwilling to school,” as Shakespeare describes it.
Next with the passing of time everyone matures and our trip of life is followed by marriage and family life — taking care of the spouse and later making the children independent.
Then, our travel progresses, “Seeking the bubble reputation” with events of joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain filled with temptations.
Subsequently, family expands, duties increase, with grandchildren. It is hectic, but interesting, as our children’s children grow.
When misfortune falls on us, the smallness of our mind makes us think; that God is good to someone else and unfair to us, while actually, He is working on something more beautiful for us.
In silver years during semi-finals of our journey, “… shifts into the lean and slipper’s pantaloon with spectacles on nose  …  second childishness and mere oblivion, sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything,” according to the bard.
Then the last finishing journey — the unavoidable death happens: ‘One falls down like an old tree, when one’s sap has run out’.
Our planet is rapidly collapsing due to human actions which will kill us all. We live in this world full of knowledge, but without any discipline towards the environment. We indulge in deforestation, fossil fuels, mining activities and many other things detrimental to the natural world which has lead to emission of green house gases in the atmosphere, global warming, without hope of repairing the damage; climatic changes are accelerating; icebergs are melting in the waters off Antarctica which causes rise in sea levels; near the Amazon fires, residents are sick, worried, and angry; the ozone layer which was for millions of years protecting the earth from the harmful Ultra violate rays from the sun, is now having holes that can cause adverse effects on the living forms.
In short, the planet we live on is suffering, its resources are depleting rivers are drying; hills are disappearing, forest cover is shrinking; and human existence is threatened on this planet. Time has come for mankind to face the responsibilities that threaten the extinction of this planet. There is urgent need to protect the environment before it is too late.
We need to conserve environment for ourselves and for our future generation. If natural world isn’t in the balance we will die. A sick environment gives sick health to everyone around. When we leave this world the outward cycle will go on.
Let us be more eco-friendly towards our planet for our children and children’s children to live their lives with no troubles, long after we are gone. It is not the length of life, but the quality of our life that gives glory to The Creator God and which makes even dying a sweet return to God.
