Let me begin with a quote by Marion Howard – “Life is like a blanket, too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night.” Well, as we enter the New Year 2020, we spent years setting new year’s resolutions for ourselves, only to forget about them by February. And honestly, this is how so many people approach goal-setting as the New Year is always the perfect time for looking ahead and thinking about what is possible in the year ahead of you.
However, let’s not undermine our worth by comparing ourselves with others. It is because we are different that each of us is so special. Let’s not set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you. Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as they are your life, for without them, life is meaningless. Never give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying. Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. Never fear to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave, isn’t? It’s these phrases that we hear more than often every day in our lives. Do we stop by and pay heed to them, then?
Each of us is an artist responsible for the sculpting of our lives, perhaps we are constantly adjusting to our needs and circumstances. With reflection, we think about changes that are needed and discover what is possible.
Therefore, as we learn to juggle in our day to day life, let’s work to preserve a balance in our lives as only then can we achieve total success and happiness in our lives. No matter what the trials or hardships come our way, the Lord has given us this day to rejoice in Him and simply give thanks for the many instances of deliverance in the past, present and future to come. He has made us special children of God and do we ever accept this? Let’s give thanks for every day that we are alive and make an extra effort to see the beauty that is in the midst of each new day. Nevertheless, many a times we undermine our worth by comparing ourselves with others, perhaps, it’s the combination of everything that you have learned and the various things that you have done that make you truly different from everyone else on this planet. Others may share some of your talents and abilities, but there is no one who is identical to you.
I believe that we all are afraid of losing or failing. But the only way to succeed is by taking the risk though we all fail at one time or the other. Finally, let me end with an apt quote by Robert Kiyosaki “Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.”
