Modi government promised for achhe din but it has come only for rich and NDA politicians! It is not true for middle class and senior citizens. The prices of almost everything are rising almost every day. Proposed GST would also have no relief but will have higher burden of tax for middle class. The middle class hardly gets enough salary to meet both ends. Considering their meagre income, a middle-class person is heavily taxed. What has the government done for the middle class and senior citizens in three years? Interest rates on savings have gone too low in the regime of the present government; it is a big jolt to senior citizens. Neither their income tax exemption limit is enhanced, nor the cumbersome procedure for Non-Deduction of TDS-Form 15H is simplified. In fact TDS should be abolished for senior citizens.
It is a pity that senior citizens who have no taxable income for last many years are getting a notice/enquiry as why they have not filed their returns for last few years – the government is not trusting them — that no income tax return is filed as they do not have that much income. Such a query to senior citizens leads to harassment and mental agony only. In the scheme of cleaning of black money, the motive is good but senior citizens and middle tax payers are feeling harassed by useless enquiries and notices. On receiving such notices / enquiry senior citizens must consult a tax practitioner to reply it which costs money — their fees too, which is an extra financial burden on them – already they are not having enough money to live comfortably with their present meagre interest income from their past savings, etc.
It is a fact that politicians and rich having black money in India or foreign accounts, etc. are not touched by the government except on political basis (even in such few cases end results in zero tax recovery). Even corruption at all levels is a harassment to citizens which government has failed to tackle. Day to day problems of aam aadmi has increased instead of reducing in last three years. Law and order in certain areas is worst. All the claims by government for middle class and senior citizens otherwise are sham. The medical care for senior citizens by the government is a nightmare. Since middle class and senior citizens are not vote banks, Modi government has neglected them in toto.
