Mind your thoughts

There is a well-known proverb which states that no one can destroy iron except its own rust. Similarly, no one can destroy a person, but his own mindset. Mind is all about thoughts – good or bad, constructive or destructive but everything starts with thoughts. It is upto you to mind your thoughts. There are two distinct functions of the mind – namely conscious and subconscious mind which we are all aware of but what we are unaware of is what goes into the subconscious mind, knowingly or unknowingly and how it goes inside it. It is therefore important to learn to control your mind and to not let it control you.

Many people follow the political leaders,TV news anchors, religious leaders, social and political activists, actors, sportsmen and so on. These personalities play crucial role in influencing  people’s minds at large with their thoughts, which could either be good or bad. But you must know that you are master of your own thoughts and it is only you who have the power to accept or reject all thoughts that can benefit or upset you.

Today, we observe that our society is divided between the majority and minority communities to the extent that the minorities, specially the Muslims, are facing discrimination in our country. Recently two videos of BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh threatening Muslim vendors have gone viral.  These acts of lawmakers are destroying the plural fabric and the whole idea of India, that is unity in diversity.

Due to conditioning of minds with negative, hate filled and destructive thoughts, the inciting of communal passions have become more dangerous than the Coronavirus. The spread of hateful and harmful thoughts have become a sort of mental poison and some of the TV news anchors are  responsible for endorsing it. The  thoughts of hatred  are generated by  some of the news channels which spew venom day in and day out in the minds of their viewers are dangerous to the society and human life. Recently, a man from Thane, Mumbai was arrested, as the video became viral, for refusing to buy vegetables from a Muslim vendor. This is fit case to understand actions follow thoughts. Hence, this is the reason it is so essential that you take the charge of your thoughts.

Every thought is a cause which leads to emotions,  reactions and then consequential actions. When a thought of hatred is created in the minds of the people, unknowingly it may sink into subconscious mind if you do not take charge and control your thought. Every bad and evil thought must be eradicated instantly. Otherwise we will see so many disturbances which reflect in the form of cruel action, violence and riots in our society. The sub-conscious mind with filthy thoughts can be disaster to mankind.

Hence, the only solution is to welcome the change. The change is to sow thoughts of peace, love, happiness, right action, goodwill, forgiveness and prosperity. When your mind thinks correctly, it will bring about harmonious conditions, agreeable, safe environment to all and the best of everything to everyone.

Today the thoughts of great poet Nobel prize winner Rabindranath Tagore are very apt. Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; into that heaven of freedom my Father, let my country awake.
