mockery of the electorate

Due to global warming heads of different nations have come forward and started a political movement of protecting the environment. In taking a step and passing a bill declassifying the coconut tree from the lists of trees which is against mother nature, against the Constitution and much against the will and the wishes of the people of Goa, the BJP led government has made a mockery of the electorate apart from making a mockery of the Government of India as the issue has figured on the electronic media. Goa just being a federal state of the Republic of India should have kept in mind how this will affect the other federal states and sought the advice of the Union Government on such an important issue. Southern states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh where there are large coconut plantations and people survive on coconut trees will treat this as a mockery and will oppose it tooth and nail.
Thanks to the timely arrival of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests headed by its Chairman Ashwini Kumar who criticised the government of declassifying the coconut tree.
But the question arises as why the Government of Goa is against the will of its people? By setting up Investment Promotion Board the government has sidelined local authorities like the Panchayats which according to the Constitution are self governing bodies and have to give or receive feedback to the state government. By a stroke of a pen the CM became a judge, jury, an executioner and set up Investment Promotion Board a destructive law which will destroy the environment and the topography of Goa which will eventually lead to the ecological imbalance for which our future generations will suffer. It is a well known fact the multinational companies offer very large sums as kickbacks for awarding them favours as alleged in the  JICA bribery case and comply with obtaining all NoC’s from the Union Ministries or from the local government with active cooperation from the political society or from the bureaucracy.
It appears the Goa government wants to kill the goose that lays golden eggs to please the corporate sector who are hell bound to enter the Goan soil much against the wishes and the will of the people of Goa.
