It is the same Congress who suffered miserably during the last Goa Vidhan Sabha elections who introduced the so-called Mopa airport in Goa and now the present BJP government is all out to complete the Congress introduced project which was not even in their election manifesto. When the project was introduced, the present independent MLA, Vijai Sardessai, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, the GPCC chief, Luizinho Faleiro, etc were part of the same Congress but none of them stood against the project. The strongman, Churchill Alemao who presently looks very weak stood against the project when he was the chief of Save Goa Front but never spoke a word against the Mopa airport when he was the PWD minister in the last Digambar Kamat government. Broad minded ‘susegadd’ Goans cannot be fooled by such ugly politicians. I totally agree that it is the joint venture of the Goa Congress and the BJP.
The highly qualified Chief Minister of Goa says that Mopa airport project will not ground at any cost. I could not understand why our CM is in a hurry? Going by the reports, it says that the Request for Quotation has already been floated and the Environment Impact Assessment will be done in June 2015, which is against the notifications of Ministry of Environment and Forests. Looks like the EIA, a very critical exercise to prove that the project is environmentally sound will be just another paper exercise as usual. Does this force us to think that Mopa airport project is yet another massive land scam? I appreciate the present government’s planning with regard to the future air traffic relating Goa. But is the government serious about the present day road traffic?
We all are aware of the ignorant statements made by ignorant politicians of Goa regarding Mopa airport. Some of them have got no clue about the project. To work for the State, one needs to be a good Statesman but most of our politicians lack this basic and important requirement. Some of our politicians want the people to come out on the streets against the Mopa airport but we the service people of Goa can’t come on the streets every now and then. Anyway Goa’s politicians in power or opposition cannot be trusted at no cost. Only God can save Goa and Goemkars and that too if we believe in the same.
