No Control Absolutely In Traffic Rules!

The Government is merely three months old but we don’t see any impressive changes as the leadership lacks knowledge and ideas in traffic system and rules. As a leader, having a brain storming session with the Transport Minister and the Director of Transport should be your priority on what’s to be done for the State.
Have traffic police patrolling for 14 hours on shifts (07 hrs – 21 hrs) plus night patrolling to have a good grip and not certain locations at fixed timings. The concerned ministers need to be more vigilant on overseas trip to grasp more ideas for implementation. Why does the government focus only on wearing a helmet? What about the stray cattle on the road and the wild bushes grown on the sides of the road; don’t you think this is dangerous? Stray cattle come out suddenly from these bushes and can take somebody’s life!
It’s sad the administration has lost its grip for years and now concentrates only on helmets. To generate more revenue issue tickets to those riding or parking on sidewalks. Non compliance of pollution control certificates; vehicles using Neon lighting, playing loud music and using multi-toned horns; violating window tint laws; Reckless driving or over speeding which is a major traffic violation; wrong parking or no entry; not possessing licence or not renewing expired licence; holding invalid insurance papers; lane crossing without signal; occupying double lanes; buses not halting at bus bays; burned out head lights; drunken driving; distracted phone driving or texting; not observing speed limits for residential areas, school zones, hospital zones, construction sites and State highways; to ensure safety of the pedestrians, please install Pedestrian Crossing Signals where the button needs to be put on by the walker himself to trigger the signal which should last for a duration of ten seconds.
Parent with a child waiting to cross the interior village road should be given first preference as well by the vehicles on the main road. Vehicles who intend to take the inner side road from the main road should be on the left lane much before and not at the last few seconds trying to cross the left lane from the right lane thereby causing traffic jam.
Ensure buses, trucks and water tankers ply only on the left lane and not on the right lane or the fast lane. Fix CCTV Cameras to trap those running stop signs or red lights. The installation of having traffic lights at various junctions currently is incomplete without CCTV cameras as everyone is very impatient and crosses the limit line. A system like this will resolve a lot of issues. Ban hit and run cases for lifetime. Implement international roundabout rules: Vehicles should slow down as they approach the roundabout. Vehicles in the lane shouldn’t enter the roundabout to avoid traffic jam. No sooner the gap in the traffic appears in the roundabout than vehicles in the lane should merge in the roundabout and halt accordingly to avoid traffic jam.
I earnestly request the govt to have a refresher driving course for the citizens of Goa to streamline this procedure as majority of the population is totally unaware of the systems which are mandatory and needs to be implemented soon for a better Goa.
