On behalf of Goans, NRIs, NRGs or Goans settled out of Goa, I would like to thank Herald for Editorial ”Can a Portuguese Passport ever take away a Goenkar’s love for Goa” (Herald, September 5)
I would have suggested our Minister to get back to his officials and find out what are the benefits of OCI or PIO that can give answers to all his questions. To clear his doubts it is an open secret that each and every Goan settled abroad loves their Mother Goa. Our people are more concerned about all the sufferings and trouble that our people are suffering back home in Goa.
No doubt Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco were the three of our favourite MLAs who had won the hearts of all the Goans settled abroad. Time and again these three politicians had really fought the BJP govt from 2012 to 2017 on each and every issue that troubled Goa may be it Defence Expose, Illegal structures, land Mafias, Casinos, Regional Plan, Tiracol or land grab. It is we the non resident Indians and especially the Portuguese Passport holders who were fully supporting our three fighters who had really made most of the noise in and out of the Legislature Assembly in support of Goa and Goans. But now because of the change of ruling dispensation these two out of three cannot take the criticism which are the blunders of the present government.
In the present case, Rohan Khaunte needs to understand that we the NRIs or Portuguese Passport holders love our Goa much more than our Goan MLAs or ministers can imagine. We will continue to give constructive suggestion or will keep on taking part in each and every sorrow or sadness that our people are facing back home in Goa. We don’t care who is governing Goa whether it is BJP, Congress or coalition government we will rise and unite to save Goa for posterity. Politicians need to understand that we Portuguese Passport holders or NRIs enjoy all the rights as an OCI or PIO and it will be in the best interest of our politicians to stop defaming their own brothers and sisters settled out of Goa. We love our Goa and love our people back home in Goa.
