All the years before December 19, 1961, every Goan slept at night in his house, big and small, with the doors and windows, just slightly closed, because there was no fear in the least, that criminals would break in. There are no records of major crimes in Goa, of the past years.
This changed drastically almost immediately, after 19 December 1961!
Every single day, Goans wake to learn of crimes, more severe than of the previous day, and time.
O Heraldo of May 23, 2023, made bold front-page headlines, about firing, theft, daylight chain-snatching, all in a day’s work. The O Heraldo of the day, also highlighted a new amendment done by the Town and Country Planning Department, that spells total doom of our land, including the forests that also threatens, the rich flora and fauna of Goa.
All this threatens the very existence of Goans and Goa, as we have known, in the years prior to December 19, 1961.
The tragic-comedy, that began the painful, cruel life of Goans, is officially declared as ‘Liberation’! To call this painful cruel life of Goans ‘Liberation’, into which we have been pushed with guns, is nothing short of mockery.
Every house in Goa, has no option, but to fix iron grills on the entrance door, windows and verandas, but this has not proved to be effective enough, against criminals. This is because everyday, hordes of murderers, thieves, kidnappers (to extort ransom) and organised syndicates of beggars, enter Goa.
Every Indian, rich and poor, has noticed that the richest of the land as well as that Goans are trusting and civilised, not prone to violence.
When the Government of Goa, including that of the CM Pramod Sawant, legislates laws that are patently against the well-being of Goans, they will not burn even a bicycle, because their civilised nature does not allow them to. The Governments of Goa are fully aware of this civilised nature of Goans and therefore, do not hesitate to legislate laws, that are harmful to the welfare of Goans.
In direct contrast, for even simple reasons, people of every State of India, will burn shops, vehicles, trains and more…
Hope that God does not allow any other people, to be ‘Liberated’! It’s enough that Goans are miserable and daily suffer pain and humiliation, thanks to what we have been made to believe, that Goa is ‘Liberated.’
There are painful questions, because of the painful lives of Goans now.
Have the so-called freedom fighters, been rendered deaf and dumb? This does not apply, to the officially declared freedom fighters, namely, the late Lambert Mascarenhas who publically declared that he was happier during the Portuguese Rule than he is now.
