Yet another year that had turned the gold of flourishing life into dust of fear has got itself buried in history with the Sun setting last on 31 December, as the sky looked like a carnivorous flower at the background again. The dawn of 2022 plays softly but surely the unchained melody of new hope. A hope that at the end of the tunnel the banquet of life is full of dreams to be fulfilled. Between the shadow and the soul, the fear and the failure, lies a dream within a dream of a new sunrise.
With the splash of dark moments of the last two years, everyone expects them to be chained permanently in a dungeon of forgetfulness without remorse and resurrection in the future. Worse than a Shakespearean catharsis, the last two years were a bolt from the blue for almost all living souls on earth that failed to shower petals of peace. Though the snowflakes of unease and perturbation are falling as the new variant of the virus tries to invade the earth, people are clinging to the hope that this season will pass by with the divine intervention.
As the New Year rolls out a red carpet to all homo sapiens, it is customary to make New Year resolutions. People always make new resolutions with eyes that are beaming with spring morning sun rays and a smile as invigorating as live fountain in a dry desert land just to usher in a sense of renewal and hope in the New Year. The promise to do or not to do something is the rock-solid core of any resolution.
There are many lessons to be learnt by all from the last two years before making new resolutions. No matter to what extent an imagination may take one on a never-ending journey of euphoria, all should end up to the conclusion that nothing is permanent except change. A change of thought, a change of heart and a change within oneself is all one can hope to renew.
As we close the darkest chapters of 2021, it will not be futile to remember that nothing can be taken for granted at our whims and fancies, that life is too precious and too short to harbour any ill feelings towards others especially towards our loved ones. Jealousy and hatred towards none and a well of riches cannot quench the thirst of unfulfilled dreams of happiness should also top the chart of renewing one’s commitments towards life. Remembering that a sinking ship of broken relationships can only sail again if misunderstanding is repaired, that in the stormy tempest of our life only the lighthouse of prayer can take us to the shore of safety will without doubt strengthen the foundation of one’s conscience. A pinch of love, perseverance, complacency, hope, humility, and positivity are the spices we need to add in 2022 to make our life more ambrosial and delectable.
Before we pen a new resolution in our heart for 2022, it will be worthwhile to bring home one’s thought to the fact that the chariot of humanity can speed up only if its wheels of kindness are well oiled without expectations. After all, if thunder could grow the flowers, what utility would the rains have? Only hope and prayers can make way for uninterrupted blessings, dropping blossoms around one’s life in times of doubt and disquietude.
