There was a time when my Goa was known to the world as a beautiful place with beautiful open minded people. Goa was full of fertile fields, green hills and rich forest. Goa was known for best beaches, our spring water had medicinal use and our clean rivers were second to none. But sadly this has turned out to be the matter of the past and our clean, open mind turning into narrower and narrower on a daily basis. We destroyed Goa’s natural tourism plan and now our people in power speak about so called Master tourism plan when they are hand in hand with the nature destructors.
I was very upset to hear that some attached to my Church sold the beautiful Island of Vanxim to so called developers. If it’s a truth, then a very simple question to those religious leaders involved. Was my Church turned out to be so poor that Vanxim land had to be sold for few lakhs? If our memories are sharp I hope people still remember a daring Catholic priest who died mysteriously while truly fighting for Mai Goa. Very few stood for him but it was good to see the large gathering of Goencho Avaaz at Margao, recently. Will the Avaaz remain or die shortly is a million dollar question.
Now let us come to Goem, Goenkar and Goenkarponn. The land of Goa not just belongs to humans but we the human race miserably failed to understand that. We humans have destroyed enough for our personal gains. Our land is not a rehabilitation Centre. Really not aware what PDAs and Regional Plan 2021 is all about? If you the people in power have Goenkarponn running through your veins then have a plan which says zero tolerance to destruction of Goa. Can you do it? I don’t think so.
You all are big, powerful people, you make and break rules as per your wishes. We are poor Goenkars, working hard to earn our daily bread and run our families. We can’t take on power people like you all because we are afraid that you have got powers to trap us illegally and you all have proved it earlier. But believe me, you all won’t be able to run away from our curses. You all who are a party to this destruction will suffer miserably one day, some day and we could see the beginning of your suffering.
