A relay race is where members of a team take turns in completing parts of racecourse or performing a certain action and pass on a baton to their next member to hold on and continue the next length of race with it.
Similarly, due to the fall of Adam when he ate the forbidden fruit, he was driven out of the Garden of Eden and was condemned to die; thus Adam started the first relay race by passing on his beliefs and values to his godly son Seth. In this way the baton of faith started moving from parents to children in an upbringing of a godly home.
Apostle Paul in the first epistle to the Corinthians says: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received…” (1 Cor. 15:3-4). What Paul was saying appears to be the baton he had received was what he passed on in all his preaching and teachings.

The walking; dancing; drinking; laughing is nothing but a relay race of men on this earthly road which has sharp bends and bumps with lots of difficulties. It is a relay race amidst all sorts of racing groups slanderers, cheats, charlatans, thieves and wicked persons on beaches having a rocking nightlife of rapes and murders.
Some run the relay race of life by pulling others down in the office, in the family and in any other worldly fields; when one cultivates hatred and spends more time trying to destroy others, then to build themselves up, such individuals run the race with crab-mentality. Some have their relay race on motorcycles snatching mangalsutra from the necks of women and run as fast as a galloping race horse.
Many gossipers run the race like gurgling waters of flowing rivers, carrying tales, judging people, emitting poison in the minds of others in the form of thoughts, words, and actions, all for the sake of pure gratification. Various groups take pleasure in mafia races like; prostitution mafia, matka mafia, and can get away with it with daily ‘haftas’, perhaps to some ordinary or perhaps to some special, responsible person.
Some run the race of inciting hatred and promoting enmity between communities and disturbing peaceful fabric of the country. So run the rounds of life from generation to generation.
When the race is run and men “go out like the snuff of a candle” and sink into the grave, the angels pull the weeds and throw them into the fiery furnace. (Mt 7:13; 13:24-30. 36-43); and the Lord who waits for His followers at the finishing line, of the relay race gives the medal of heaven to those who were on the righteous path in relay race of life.
It is rightly said that people rock around the clock and at the end of their worldly race a few enter in through the narrow gate which leads to eternal life; and many through the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction due to Satan’s temptation.
