Respecting culture

I was watching news on the TV where one minister was threatening to stop New Year celebrations. There are many leaders of today who are ignorant of history and definition of culture. One must know that culture of India is made up of all religions, and communities and not only Hindu religion and Hindu community. Indian culture is amalgamation of several cultures.
Our leaders do not know that culture is defined as people’s way of life, the way they dress, the type of food they eat and the type of worship they carry on. Indian culture is a blend of various cultures belonging to diverse religion, caste and regions. India is a free country where each person has his right to worship, eat the food he or she wants provided he or she does not enter in the domain of others and cause problems to other person.
I have noticed of late that there are many people who call themselves Hindus are destroying the peace of other person. We play loud music to show to the world that they can do anything because they have muscle powers. In some states local people who have been rearing cows are not allowed to sell the animal to get money when the animal is weaned and is proved useless but the fanatics are allowed to export beef for dollars without any problem and just because they want to export cows and just because they want to get cheap cows for themselves they are making noise and killing innocent people.
Goa, Daman and Diu was under the Portuguese just as Pondicherry was under the French. Bombay was with the British and for centuries people have been portraying their culture without disturbing other people. Even the Portuguese and British allowed the Hindus to worship their God and dress as per the customs. Those days the Hindu ladies wore saris and the non-Hindus wore dresses. The Hindus celebrated Ganesh festival just as the Christians celebrated Christmas.
