The Laxmikant Parsekar-led BJP government after initially bluffing the villagers of Saligao all this while by telling that the upcoming garbage treatment plant which is being set up on the Saligao/Calangute plateau would be exclusively only for the benefit of people of Saligao/Calangute constituencies is now heard mischieviously telling that the same plant would also be utilized by people from whole of North Goa which is really shocking. I think that this itself clearly shows that the BJP government is somehow hell-bent on bringing a major disaster on this beautiful village of Saligao by finally turning the same into one huge permanent garbage-dumping gao, if not into another Sonsodo for good.
Of course, Parsekar was recently heard trying to convince the villagers of Saligao giving his own big talks over the same issue and by even talking of some German technology through the media. Well, whether it is German or Russian technology, what is the guarantee that the said garbage treatment plant will work efficiently under the supervision of unfit useless workers or labourers in the long run and that too in a hot climatic state like Goa? When the government cannot maintain so many other important things like roads, government offices and even Kadamba buses, how can we expect the same government to maintain a plant and that too of stinking garbage in the long run at the Saligao/Calangute plateau?
Personally, I am not against this upcoming garbage treatment plant at the Saligao/ Calangute plateau but my only argument is that why should only the people of Saligao suffer and go to do charity for the other villages by allowing whole of North Goa to dump their garbage in their neighbourhood and invite dissaster on themselves in the long run? Would these villages have allowed the villagers of Saligao to dump their garbage in their neighbourhood?
I think that if the BJP government has so much guarantee of this upcoming garbage treatment plant then instead of dreaming of destroying only one Saligao village for good displaying this open selfish attitude it should first go and set up similar plants in all the other villages of Goa to really sort out this garbage problem. Really salute the hand-full of Saligaokars who are still fighting silently against the upcoming plant for the love of Saligao….. Three cheers to them…. Time to stay vigilant against all destructive selfish politicians and their close ‘chamchas’ to really save Saligao unitedly for just one last time. The future of Saligao lies in the hands of Saligaonkars themselves…. So c’mon Saligaokars, its time to rise up and to save Saligao coz its now or never…
