The death of humanity?

‘Human’ and ‘humanity’ are very much related to each other but is this relationship living anymore? There exist many religions in the world, but the prime principal of any religion is ‘humanity’ and this is the reason why ‘humanity’ is believed to be the greatest of all religions though many of us misinterpreted religion as per our own requirements like most of our politicians using the same for political gains.

A ‘new-born’ is never born with inbuilt ‘humanity’ but learns from his/her’s parents, teachers and the surroundings as the baby grows. Generally, we reap what we sow. Success without humanity is weightless. The basics of real education is good manners and discipline which is hard to find in today’s world.

Totally understand and agree that it’s impossible to survive without money in today’s world but ‘humanity’ is also equally very much needed and without ‘humanity’ our priceless assets becomes valueless.  Selling humanity for money makes life worthless. Someone has rightly said that people were created to be ‘loved’ and ‘things’ were created to be used and in today’s world, isn’t it other way round? There hardly exist love, peace, affection, compassion, etc.; around.

What we commonly see around are our selfish needs.  We have become insensitive towards our very own, leave aside what is called as society. See around our villages, The children have moved to so called cities leaving their own parents in their native village houses. Some have rented their premises  forcefully shifting their parents to  old-age homes and some of us has just abandoned our own parents who brought us in this world. Are our parents’ beggars? It’s bad and sad that these days we often see in Goa, many of us are least bothered towards our own old parents who never failed in their responsibilities towards us.

We are so much occupied in life that there exists no time to visit them. There is no point flying from miles always for their funerals and talking high about them in our false thanksgiving speeches. Are our own parents not our responsibility during their old age? Another ugly act commonly witnessed these days is selling of ancestral houses for money.

This generation for ours has turned so selfish and self-centered that we failed to understand the difference between homes and houses. We will never be spared for selling our ancestral roots.

In simple words ‘humanity’ means is a quality of being humane, kind and thoughtful. If a human does not possess even one of these qualities, then he/she cannot claim to be a real human by heart except human by physical appearance.

Take the case of our own elected representatives. Doubt they possess at least one of these qualities. Aren’t they selling their own people for what not? Haven’t they become the agents of the Centre against their own people? Aren’t they being in hand with land sharks to sell this once very beautiful land? Aren’t they were debating against ‘opinion poll’ which saved our unique identity?

Someone has rightly said, Greatness is not found in possession, power, positions or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service and character. Sadly, I don’t see these qualities in any of Goa’s political leaders.

I join hands and beg to you to be humane and don’t sell the ‘Goy’ of ‘Goykars’. ‘Goy’ is our mother and real children will never do business with her own mother.

Viva!
