The Future is not for us to see

It is common knowledge that change is the only constant. Life is never monotonous for anyone, even if the overall schedule may be the same on a daily basis. No day can be a replica of another, just like any two fingerprints. For example the schedule for a 30+ person upon waking up may be, packing lunch boxes, sending kids to school, leaving for work, coming home, attending to kids and dinner preparation. But the actual moments will differ, the conversation will differ and the menu hopefully will differ too.

These are the usual miniscule changes in a set routine and absorbed by one as a matter of course. But what if an unforeseen change happens and keeps happening as a routine? How well can one be prepared for this? Such a scenario can materialize during health upsets in a family or a volatile business venture. I had an aged relative just out of ICU and at our house. Each uneventful day or night passed was like a blessing. Especially so as I was in the midst of my post graduate exam schedule. She started gaining strength but one bleak day she fell unconscious as she ventured to walk without support. My husband proved to be the savior as he commanded me to bring some sugared water which he pushed into her mouth and revived her.

Unexpected circumstances can be seen in the course of a business venture that has many variables affecting it on a regular basis, like government policies, the political situation, the type of raw material or commodity involved and so on. A family friend had stocks of

cloth at a godown that unexpectedly got flooded with drain water. The cloth was for school uniforms to be got ready during that month. As it was a family business there was no dearth of moral support and he approached friends like us for financial help to tide him over the temporary rough patch. So, as seen, not everyone is fortunate to have a plain sailing day, every day.

The best plan in all such above situations is to accept that your day is going to be different today and keep your mind steady for any destabilizing incident that may occur. If you are a believer, as soon as you wake up in the morning, offer your prayer to the Almighty for having granted you a new day and ask Him to roll it out as per His plan for you. Once done, be assured that you will be worry free as you will accept everything as His plan for you. If you are an atheist, tell yourself, “Today an unexpected thing may happen and I am prepared” and rest assured you will be! Only be sure to be proactive in either case and do the best possible to deal with the situation, taking it as a test of your fortitude. Calm yourself, take stock of the situation on hand and reach out to

helpful friends and relatives. Call emergency care for a health upset, and plan for alternatives in case of a business upset. Panic is useless and helps nobody. After all it is que sera, sera! What will be, will be! It behoves us to cope and not mope.
