Football is in the blood stream of all the Goans. Whether a person of 20 years, 40 years or even 80 years is concerned. Whenever the match is played, Goans flock to see their heroes in action. But unfortunately the three matches which the Goan team played turned out to be nothing less than a disaster. As a Goan, it really hurts when we see our team losing. To make the situation worse, Goa is losing because of a few players who are not giving their hundred percent. If any particular player can’t perform then why is that player not substituted? Take the case of the match against Kolkata. The team after scoring one goal, completely relaxed as if they won. Our opponents got four opportunities, and they converted two. But our team got around eight opportunities, and they converted only one. Is this the standard of our team? Is this what their supporters come to see? The game which our team played was not up to the mark. Their ball control, shielding of the ball, trapping etc, nothing went right. If not for their own self respect, the players should perform well for the respect of Goan football. Players like Pires, from whom so much was expected , turned out to be substandard. Ranti Martins, who was the number one striker in the i-league, is not even close to his past performance. But unfortunately what can we supporters do? The Goan coach should definitely come out with some strategy, which will bring the team back on track.
