The food cooked under unhygienic conditions near a cemetery at Verna in an open government property itself is a gross violation of humanity and human rights. Moreover, it was allegedly cooked by the manual labourers and not by professional cooks. This scam would have not happened without the blessings of some senior police officers and politicians. Shame that such a mega scam has taken place with their knowledge in their own jurisdiction, the SP of South has to be solely responsible and must accept morally his failure in this issue. If not for the notice of some competent officers within the police force and eagle-eyed activists of Goa, this scam would have gone unwritten in history. What was worse was that the government has given so much for a two-day event like BRICS that has brought much destruction to our green nature, inconvenienced the general public, even the sick by stopping the Ambulance on roads from its life saving missions. Are the lives of the VVIP’s so precious than the common man?
The other food scam which must be probed by the government and the competent authorities is the Mid-day meals scam in schools that has rocked Goa several times. All government canteen contractors and food suppliers must be strictly certified by food hygienists before food being supplied to the innocent hard working government employees and school children.
We may hate many of the Goa police personnel for their notoriety but we cannot see the inhumane treatment meted out to them by our own government. Wonder how many of the senior police officers really enjoyed the Verna meals? Enquiry and revelations by the Human Rights Commission of Goa will only reveal the truth. We pray to Adv. Aires to go to the depth of this scam and also keep a watch on the Mid-day Meals suppliers to spare the innocent children from being the subject of greed of a few corrupt officers.
