The Undecided Voter

Kudos to the mind stirring editorial (04.12.2016) as Fly on the Wall by Editor Sujay Gupta is mind blowing. The writer has done a fair assessment about the different strata’s of voters in Goa. The author has said exactly what Goans are feeling and it is assumed that we will have a fragmented verdict in 2017, unless and until the Congress gears up for the polls with credible and loyal candidates and shows unity or it will be difficult for the Congress to give a credible challenge to the BJP. Though AAP will be eating up a chunk of votes, both from Congress and BJP, it cannot be ruled out that they can be the decisive force in formation of the next government. But the recent charm of the AAP has been on lower ebb due to the fact that it has not portrayed strong local leaders and relies on Delhi for instructions. Therefore, it cannot be considered any different from the Congress and BJP, therefore the undecided voter is still doing a soul search.
With a few more local parties emerging on the arena, it will be worth seeing who will steal the show. As pointed out by the author of the aforementioned column, the number of undecided voters has a choice to make – to switch on their loyalties to a new local outfit or go with the Congress or AAP rather than the U-turn specialists BJP. With fears and sentiments of disharmony growing in the hearts and minds of the people, there is no doubt that they will show the way out to the BJP in the forth-coming elections. Major work of putting BJP in the dock has already started by Subash Velingkar of the BBSM, it will be worthwhile to see how BJP will survive the onslaught.
It will be wise for the Goan electorate to throw out all the communal, dictatorial and corrupt forces and parties and vote wisely for candidates who are clean with no criminal record. Those with morals and are proven worth for the society in the past rather than going soul searching to save Goa and doing another mistake like we did when we trusted BJP to run our affairs based on their false promises of Goa Statehood and many more.
