Now that all the major political parties have already spelt out their party promises as well as their mind games, it’s time for the Goan voters to put their thinking caps on and reflect, evaluate critically and decide to which party they should eventually cast their precious votes. Your votes should make a valuable contribution to the future of Goa.
Unfortunately going through the popular manifestos of the national parties like AAP, BJP, Congress and local parties, it appears that whichever party wins, the lives of Goans are going to be pretty easy and care-free, especially that of housewives, BPL and Senior Citizens, SC/ST, migrant workers, mining dependents, taxi owners, and the youth. No more hardwork, stress, strain, responsibility and accountability. Government of the day will make itself responsible to provide aplenty for the needs of citizens of Goa.
How will this be achieved and from where all the money will come, is a billion rupee question. Or is it going to be very simple, just add a few more thousand crores each year to the already existing public dept of Rs 10,000 crores?
The important question is, how can Goan voters be so naive and unconcerned to such phenomenal promises and feel exhilarated? A real govt has the supreme responsibility of providing good and efficient governance, an administration that’s free from corruption. Providing up-to-date modern public services such as health, education, water, electricity and transport at reasonable costs. Infrastructure such as good roads, adequate parking, working sewerage system, public safety and security, and state of the art sporting and cultural facilities. These are some of the basic requirements where a responsible government of the day needs to concentrate its efforts, resources and finances. Throwing away people’s money on populist schemes and sops by squeezing the exchequer from its precious funds and abdicate all other obligations, would be like committing harakiri and leave the people of Goa bleeding to death.
Goans, immaterial to whichever community, caste or class you belong, don’t be carried away by such populist promises made by political parties prior to the voting day. Cast your votes only to those who can bring about a positive change.
Some just want to win by all means.
