“I am busy yaar!, I really don’t have time for myself. There are so many things pending that need attention. Moreover, I haven’t given a close look at my wardrobe, blah, blah,… the voice declared. Well, this is true of every individual. Many times I retorted: B-u-s-y? Busy under Satan’s yoke? What! Came the quick reply. I said: yes! That’s what you told me. You could as well say, I am engaged with lot of stuff at desk, etc. Hey, that’s not bad yaar, thanks for the vocabulary! She blushed.
She called last week: “Last three months, I have had lots of time to look into my wardrobe; to check the draws of our cupboards; the shoe racks and things like that”. No doubt, last four months we indeed had time to introspect our lives and put our lives in order; put our house in order; put our relationships in place. As we read in the Book of Job 33: 31 – 33, “Pay attention, (put your name), and listen to me, be silent, and I will speak. If you have anything to say, answer me, speak up, for I desire to justify you. But, if not, then listen to me, be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.” Certainly, we had ample of time, even, with the daily soaps and favourite shows going off air, to have a look at our conscience and regain not only bodily health but, also mental, emotional and psychological healthy health.
And a sincere introspection has proved that a person of clear conscience is ever pure, joyful and cheerful. A person of guilty conscience is morose, cheerless. A person of pure and clean conscience sleeps happily and wakes up cheerfully, and moves about gladly in the house or at work place. A person of guilty conscience is ever restless and unhappy in all he/she does and moves around, with a sullen face. A person of guilty conscience is dead even while living. A person of pure conscience is a live wire who instils hope and motivates life in others.
A clean conscience discerns evil quickly and shuns it. A good conscience bestows on you ease, serenity, joy and happiness. It prevents calamities, troubles, afflictions and miseries. That noble man who has a clean and pure conscience is not afraid of anybody in this world. He is not afraid even of death.
A good, clear conscience is the temple of God. It helps us to reach the goal quickly. What good health is to the body a good conscience is to the soul. There is inward satisfaction of conscience when a good action is done, when virtue is practised, when you lead a virtuous life. The most natural beauty in the world is honesty and moral truth. Let’s be beautiful within. Have a clear/clean conscience. Be virtuous. For, Physical beauty fades…
Conscience or the voice of wisdom speaks in all of Lord’s creation, but the little, finite, impure human intellect does not comprehend it. Purify your mind. Tune your mind radio by brushing it, and hear His voice and become wise. The voice of the soul will lead you to safety, truth, peace and immortal bliss.
Let’s not get carried away by what is happening. The news which we watch, the YouTube videos… The conscience is screaming! Yelling! Shouting!!! Let’s take few minutes to listen to the voice of the conscience, being silent, and allow God to speak to us, for he says “listen me”, “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go”.
